Looking out across the Chesapeake Bay under the glow of a full moon, I think the water was more calm than I'd ever seen it. The beach had no waves whatsoever and the Bay was silky smooth even hundreds of feet from shore. The air was so still I could clearly make out the voices of teenagers partying at a house almost a half mile north along the shore. With the light of the full moon to guide me, I walked out to the tip of the jetty, stretching about 100 meters from shore. The bulb in the channel marker at the end of the jetty had blown and was no longer blinking its red light for those who would return to the harbor. It felt isolated and alone. Taken after 1am, this scene is illuminated entirely by the full moon.
